For all of us die hard fans of our fancy food trucks, the big news is that the Roosevelt Row Community Development Corporation (CDC) and the Phoenix Food Truck Coalition are hosting the first ever Phoenix Food Truck Festival on Saturday, October 22 in the Evans Churchill Neighborhood. The event will take place at A.R.T.S. Project #1 at 408 E. Roosevelt St. in downtown Phoenix late afternoonish.
After seeing how the food truck catering were taking off, and knowing that opening up a restaurant was too costly, He decided that a truck was the answer. “I want to expose Americans to a different kind of Chinese fast food in a way they haven’t seen before,” he says. The food he plans to serve will be quick, but there won’t be any orange chicken involved. Here, customers will find an open-face bao, served in buns similarly to Peking duck preparation. For those on the go, Asian-style burritos with a rice, edemame and a choice of meat filling will be available. Toss in mochi for dessert and a cup of green tea to make it a full meal.
This year’s three-on-three tournament takes place June 29-30, with even more teams expected to take part this year than the 2012 tournament. The latest advertisement proclaims that there will more than 7,000 teams participating with the help of 3,000 volunteers. Downtown Spokane will host around 225,000 fans in early estimates, with 450 basketball courts constructed over 42 city blocks. The largest basketball tournament in the country just got even bigger.
The Nana Queens truck serves up, hands down, the world’s best banana pudding. With a dash of caramel and a nilla wafer, this pudding is nothing short of transcendental. Officially, the truck is called Nana Queens Pudding and Wings, and with a menu of wings, fries, pudding and other specialty, they have garnered a devoted fan base in Los Angeles. Adam Kutner.
